TallYarn for Claude
Claude can read your stories in TallYarn and co-write them with you, as you: scenes, script, the story bible, character arcs, comments. You sign in and choose Allow, and you can take it back from your Account page whenever you like.
It’s part of the Room plan: Claude works in Room workspaces, from $9 a month for up to 3 writers.
The Claude Code plugin
One install gets you the connector and Listen (below). In a terminal, run:
claude plugin marketplace add https://tallyarn.com/claude/marketplace.json
claude plugin install tallyarn@tallyarnOr tell Claude:
Install the TallYarn plugin for Claude Code by following https://tallyarn.com/claude/install.mdThen, in Claude Code, run /reload-plugins, and /mcp to sign in to TallYarn.
If you added TallYarn to Claude Code earlier with claude mcp add, remove that one so you don’t have two: claude mcp remove tallyarn.
claude.ai and the Claude app
No plugin needed: add TallYarn as a custom connector. In Settings, open Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and give it this address. You’ll be asked to sign in to TallYarn and choose Allow.

Ask Claude to start listening, then talk the story through with your co-writers. A fast model (Haiku) reads along and picks out the requests and decisions, like “put that in as a scene after the funeral” or “note that the rain starts mid-eulogy”. It ignores the brainstorming. Each request is handed to the model that suits it: small changes and questions to Haiku, writing to Sonnet, restructuring to Opus.
Finished work pops up as a Mac notification. Anything outside TallYarn (an email, say), and anything Claude isn’t sure about, comes back to you in Claude Code to confirm first.
Listen hears everyone in the room: tell them before you start, and get their okay where the law asks for it.
What stays on your Mac, and what doesn’t
- The audio stays on your Mac. Speech is transcribed there, by whisper.cpp, and the recording is never sent anywhere.
- The transcript text goes to Claude. It reads your co-writers’ words the way it reads anything you type to it.
What you need
- A Mac.
- Claude Code: in a terminal, in the desktop app’s Code tab, or in VS Code.
- Homebrew. The first time, Listen installs sox, whisper.cpp and a speech model (about 140 MB).
To begin, ask Claude to start listening. To end, ask it to stop listening.
What Claude can and can’t do
- It can read your stories, and write scenes, script, bible entries, character arcs and comments.
- Every change is marked “✦ via Claude” in history and in comment threads, so you can see what it did.
- It can’t delete anything.
- It won’t edit a scene someone has open.
- You can disconnect it at any time from your Account page.
